On the occasion of Father's Day we met and interviewed Rocco Adriano Galluccio, designer and founder of the Alcoolique brand, as well as creative director of Carla Carini. Since 2023, father together with his partner of little Eva Sofia. We asked him a few questions about his relationship with his daughter and how his working and personal life has changed.
1. How has your life changed with the birth of Eva Sofia?
My life has changed completely in terms of priorities, Eva Sofia has priority over everything and everyone, for the rest I must say that I have already been very much a homebody for a few years and I prefer dinners at home with friends to evenings at the disco, so my social life hasn't changed much.
We moved house before she was born and we immediately organized everything for her to try to be "ready" but in the end we never are!
2. Has your working life also changed with the arrival of your daughter? If yes, how?
Definitely yes, I left minor projects and focused on those I believe in the most, to have more free time and be able to dedicate it all to Eva Sofia.
By doing this I can be more concentrated at work and the moments with my daughter become all of quality.
3. What was your biggest surprise in tackling fatherhood?
Many times before his birth I asked myself a thousand questions about my abilities as a father. Will I be able to get up at night? Will I be able to keep up with her all day? Will I be able to do all the things she needs? Will I be a good father? Then when she was born, in an instant it was all natural, beautiful. This was a huge surprise for me, because I myself was amazed at having immediately become a DAD, with infinite patience and a truckload of songs dusted off from my childhood.
4. What were your main sources of support and advice during the first months of fatherhood?
In truth, being Eva Sofia born on the other side of the world, we were completely alone.
We had already taken a course with a Doula in Italy, but no doll and no advice prepares you for that little bundle that arrives and overwhelms (and shocks) you.
I won't deny that it was wonderful not having the endless "unsolicited advice" that everyone talks about and we enjoyed our little girl in her first weeks of life, without any pressure or external commitment, everything was dedicated to her.
Then obviously returning home and reading the emotion in the eyes of our family members was wonderful... but Eva Sofia was already almost 2 months old and we were super experienced and this stopped a lot of advice!
5. What is the most precious moment you have spent with your daughter so far and what has it taught you about fatherhood?
There is no "The moment" because every day is the moment, he is in a phase where every day he does and discovers something new, and every time it is beautiful and exciting.
6. What is your favorite style to use to create and renovate Eva Sofia's wardrobe?
There isn't a precise style, I certainly really like colorful things, absolutely not to those aesthetic children (in total beige or black), I like children dressed as children, with brightly colored clothes and also with playful patterns.
Her wardrobe obviously evolves super quickly and as she grows there is more and more choice, I am in love with all the little dresses with full skirts, but being on the floor playing a lot at home I prefer tracksuits.
7. What are your choices among brands? Do you have any preferences for your daughter?
In truth I can always find something suitable for her… everywhere (maybe this is a problem)!
She certainly has many dresses by Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Stella McCartney, Jacadi and Gucci, but she also has just as many from large clothing chains such as Zara.
8. What role does sustainability in fashion (one of the key elements of the Stella McCartney Kids collections) have in choosing looks for your little girl?
It's definitely important. Sustainability and quality of materials are often the key element that directs me towards a garment, after the aesthetic factor.
9. How important is the relationship between children and animals for you? How does your dog Pippi relate to Eva Sofia?
Very important. Pippi is and always will be our first baby! Unfortunately, after the thousand expectations that all those videos of children with their dogs on TikTok created in us, we returned home and Pippi (jealous) ignored her completely, the moments in which he approached her were truly rare, but they now happen more and more often, she adores him, looks for him and calls him in her own way... we trust in Eva Sofia's baby food launch to trigger love.
